Alberta Health Services health professionals will discuss vaping and nicotine pouch use amongst youth. Participants will learn: • Trends in and prevalence rates of e-cigarette use for school aged youth in Alberta • Best practices for preventing nicotine use • An overview on nicotine pouches • Marketing tactics targeting youth • Grade appropriate prevention education for schools • A summary of available resources for students and teachers to prevent and reduce nicotine use by young people

In the session, I will introduce you to an assortment of projects that I use in my classroom. These projects have been used at a junior and senior high-level and can be adapted for elementary. We will then get to play around with materials and work to complete for projects, that can be used in your art classroom.

How do I assess Art?

In the session, Tania will walk you through assessment practises that she uses in her art program at high school level. She’s also used these practises in junior high. She will walk you through outcome based assessment, using directing verbs and triangulation of assessment, based on conversation, observation, and product.
