Inspired by Krogstad's experience writing with the Wilder Institute and Calgary Zoo, try some cross-curricular activities to capture wildlife and the larger conservation messages that they’re a part of. Applying creative writing skills and literary devices, we will learn how to observe and describe different animals and their environments. By exposing the strengths and unique qualities of each species and individual, describing tangible behaviours, and finding a relatable message that we can all connect to, we’ll sharpen writing tools that we can also apply to other writing & genres. While this is a cross-curricular workshop for Language Arts and Biology, we welcome teachers from other subjects who would like to try out a case study of applying writing skills to other subjects.
