BRAIN PULSE uses the drum circle as a metaphor to discover the brain and its functions: a whole made up of interconnected, specialised parts. This introductory workshop will explore the concept of neuroplasticity - the brain's ability to always change and grow. The neurons (participants) will use “attention & repetition” to create and strengthen new neural circuits. These interactive activities can be done on drums, body percussion or with found sound instruments. Participants will get: *Three lessons for Gr. 3-9 students *Brain facts and supporting research *Intro videos on neuroplasticity This innovative program was developed by Dr. Jane Bentley (Scotland), Mary Knysh (USA) & Lucas Coffey (Canada) was designed to be a fun, interactive way for young people to learn about the brain and drumming all in one place.
