Teachers and students alike use media and technology in the classroom and at home for learning and living in the digital world. But are students learning the skills that will enable them to effectively and confidently manage their digital learning? Do all elementary students have equal access to the learning and development of these competencies specific to media and technology? The skills that help them recognize types of information, discern misinformation, formulate their own informed opinions, and become positive, contributing members of their classroom communities and beyond? This session highlights the concepts of Media Literacy education, its importance in the elementary classroom, and practical application of these concepts based on the new ELAL curriculum outcomes.
