In this session, I will share how my stories are used to teach the curricular outcomes. From eating Bananas Foster and Chinese potstickers, using household cleaners and pharmaceuticals, building Saturn V Model Rockets, quinzees, and mousetrap cars, to my relationship with ethanol and water, I will demonstrate how my students learn about chemistry in everyday life. I weave these authentic experiences which span over many years of my teaching career to increase student engagement and connection. Participants will collaborate and share strategies to design lessons, create activities or share demos on how to teach the more difficult outcomes.
